Two Beautiful Lineage Societies I Am Honored to Join

I am deeply honored and happy to share my membership in two remarkable lineage societies that preserve and celebrate the history of our nation.

On August 5, 2018, I became an approved member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) by virtue of my descent from my patriot ancestor, John Wall of Pennsylvania, who with unfailing loyalty served as a soldier in the cause of American independence during the Revolutionary War.

On January 7, 2025, I became an approved member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–1865 (DUVCW) as a lineal descendant of my second great-grandfather, Private Joseph C. Wildt, Company C-1st, West Virginia Light Artillery, who with unfailing loyalty rendered invaluable service to the United States of America during the Civil War.

These memberships are not just certificates or titles — they are a living connection to the courage, sacrifice, and service of my ancestors. I am grateful to honor their memory and to continue preserving the history they helped to shape.

Being part of these societies reminds me that history is not only found in books and archives but also in our very own family stories. Each meeting, project, and ceremony is a chance to keep their spirit alive, to share their legacy with others, and to inspire future generations to remember that freedom, unity, and service are values worth protecting.

If you have ever been curious about your own family’s past, I encourage you to explore the possibility of lineage society membership. The journey of discovery can be deeply rewarding, and you may find—just as I did—that your ancestors’ stories continue to guide and inspire you today.

“Boom Box Granny at DAR Fall Council!” 🎶

California Daughters of the American Revolution gathered in Bakersfield, CA, September 10–13, 2025, for our annual Fall Council — and what an incredible time we had!

I was honored to serve the California State Regent and Registrar as a volunteer for their fantastic workshops. I always enjoy the business meetings and hearing the inspiring reports of the wonderful service our California Daughters give to their communities.

Two of my favorite traditions are the Cameo Tea and the Past & Present Regents Association Breakfast — moments to connect, celebrate, and share our love of service and history.

And yes — girls just want to have fun! 🎶 This year’s theme was the 1980s, and I was thrilled to win the Life at Total Vibe Award for Best Iconic 80s Look — earning the nickname “Boom Box Granny” from my DAR sisters. 💖

Many thanks to everyone who hosted this event and to those who captured and shared these beautiful memories on Facebook.

Training for the Every Woman’s Marathon is officially on schedule — and I’m so thankful! 🙌

In the past 3 weeks, I’ve run 3 half marathons as part of training… and there are 6 more to go over the next 6 long runs. That’s 9 half marathons in 9 weeks — a challenge, but one I’m ready to take on! 🏃‍♀️✨

Every mile is getting me closer to race day — stronger, faster, more confident. 💪

Books Are My Lifelong Companions!

On May 24, 1997, I earned my Master’s in Library and Information Science, setting me on a path I truly love. I am now retired, but for more than two decades, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a library page, a library aide and a librarian with the County of Los Angeles Public Library.

But my love of books has never been just a career—it’s a way of life. Reading is an everyday occurrence for me, a joy that has carried me through the years and continues to grow stronger. From my first tracked reading year on Kindle in 2018 with 1 book, to nearing the 100-book mark in 2020, and continuing year after year, my shelves (and heart) have filled with stories.

Books are my lifelong companions, and I plan to keep reading as long as I can see the words on the page. I love it, love it, love it. 📚❤️

Ultramarathon Journal: Personal Record: 60 Miles, Then 100

Two races. Two finish lines. Two milestones. A journey I’ll never forget. Every step proved I was born to run.

In 2018, I laced up for another ultramarathon. I had previously completed 30-mile ultramarathons This would be a timed 60 miles. Every step tested me. Sixty miles of grit, doubt, and determination. There were moments I wondered if I could keep going, but somehow, step after step, I did. Crossing that finish line wasn’t just about the miles—it was about proving to myself that I was capable of more than I ever imagined.

A year later, in 2019, I went even farther—100 miles. It was grueling, it was painful, but it proved to me just how much I can endure. One hundred miles. A whole new level of challenge. The pain was real. The exhaustion was deep. But so was the joy of pushing through barriers I never thought I could break.

Celebrating endurance and camaraderie during a challenging 60-mile ultramarathon. I am the white repping my 261 Fearless 2018 Boston Marathon Team. Luis Escobar, Born to Run, is next to me.

“Blue Shirts, Bright Smiles, and Tuesday Miles”

Just a heads-up: the dew point in Paramount, CA this morning was around 64 °F—which is a bit on the muggy side. When the dew point climbs above 60 °F, workouts can feel noticeably tougher due to reduced evaporation and that sticky, humid sensation. So if you’re planning to hit the pavement this morning, know that it might feel a bit more strenuous than usual. A few tips to stay comfortable:

Hydrate extra before and during your walk.

Take it at your own pace—you might want to dial it back slightly or include short rest stops.

Dress light and breathable to help your body keep cool.

Despite the humidity, you’ve got this! A cool shaded route and plenty of water can make all the difference.
