I lost some of my best marathoning during the covid lockdowns. My last Marathon was the Marine Corps Marathon, October 27, 2019. I was 68 years old.
I had completed 2 stars for the AWMM, including Boston and New York City, and was enrolled in the Chicago Marathon when the lockdowns hit. I donated my entry fee to charity, Paws for Chicago, and said “good bye” to ever achieving the AWMM 6 stars.
During the lockdowns, I was able to achieve the virtual Abbott World Marathon Majors 6 City Challenge 2020. This is my award for running on my treadmill during those dark days.
Thank you, AWMM for hosting the many virtual runs that kept me going. I am happy to have achieved this award.
New strategy: Run 13 minutes, walk 17 minutes. Seemed easier than walking the entire 12 miles last week.
First half marathon completed since my 60s, pre-covid lockdowns. The last was the Humana Rock ’n Roll Half Marathon, Las Vegas, November 17, 2019, 2:44:39, 12:34 pace.
Ten women who are older than me finished last year’s Every Woman’s Marathon.
Enjoying the sights and sweet smells of the South Arroyo. Chatting and logging another 5k+. Building strength, endurance and heat tolerance. Strengthening friendships. Welcoming new member, Sue.
If this sounds good to you, please come on out and spend an hour with us!

A warm welcome to our newest members, Maria and Jose! We are looking forward to many happy times together.
Continuing on my quest to complete another full marathon, the Every Woman’s Marathon, I was blessed to be able to complete today’s assigned 12-mile long run. Training at 80 degrees and 80% humidity was quite a challenge. I power-walked the entire distance, testing my ability to stay ahead of the cut-off time of 17:45 min/mile
Next Sunday – 14 miles! Uh oh!
Thank you so much for all the prayers and good thoughts you can send my way!
I was deeply honored to join the Daughters of the American Revolution, Western Shores Chapter, on August 5, 2018. I served as Chapter Regent, 2022-2024, and am currently serving as Co-Chaplain, 2024-2026. It is truly a high honor and a privilege to serve.
I had a memorable time attending the 134th Continental Congress! NSDAR Continental Congress is always an ideal destination business/vacation that I greatly look forward to.
I am deeply pleased to have served as a voting delegate and a Hospitality Committee volunteer member of Tiers – Sections K-M. A must-attend for me are the Business sessions, and I am grateful to have had the privilege of attending them.
I also carved out time to walk to the iconic and inspiring monuments of Washington, D.C., including the Korean War Veterans Memorial Wall, the Lincoln Memorial, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Arlington National Cemetery and the Military Women’s Memorial. Atruly well-rounded trip.
Thank you, Dear NSDAR for putting me in touch with the Patriots and Spirits of Time.
