My last marathon was in 2019, before the covid lockdowns. My long distance training and hopes for earning the https://www.worldmarathonmajors.com/stars 6 Stars Abbott World Marathon Majors came to an end with those dark days. I lost 4 of the good years I had left to achieve this challenge.
Still, I wondered if I might have another marathon in me, at the age of 74. My inspiration came from the beautiful people associated with the Every Woman’s Marathon https://everywomansmarathon.com and the rallying cry of Kathrine Switzer, Marathon Woman, to “Seize the opportunity!“
Today ended my 3rd week of marathon training, a 10-mile long run. I was unsure if I could accomplish this, but looked forward to giving it a try. I am happy and grateful that I made it. Next week’s long run is a cut-back to 8 miles, and then a drive back up. Thank you in advance for any prayers and best wishes you can send my way.
Also, If you would like to support our 261 Fearless Club Los Angeles, I would greatly appreciate any help you can give to purchase team shirts and pay the heavy cost of insuring the club.
